As many customers of Dassault Systemes products already know, there have been changes to the license management tool in use. IBM LUM v4.6.8 has been replaced with Dassault’s own proprietary licensing system, namely the Dassault Systemes License Server (DSLS). As a result, products using IBM LUM at V5R20 should be migrated to DSLS in V5R21. Customers will actually have the choice of using LUM or DSLS in V5R21, but V5R22 products will be switching over to DSLS completely. Also worth noting is that IBM LUM will be unsupported from December 31, 2013 onward.
While the changes may be good news for some, it may cause a few headaches for the ones that already have tools in place, whether purchased or developed in-house, to monitor and track IBM LUM servers. From my own research I have not found any solutions online that are currently capable of tracking DSLS. But luckily for anyone that has done the same I can say look no further… as of version 3.11, License Statistics supports DSLS, allowing companies to monitor and track any of the new products from software families including CATIA, ENOVIA, and DELMIA.
Furthermore, for companies looking to monitor any other software using FLEXlm, FlexNet, Sentinel, Reprise License Manager (RLM) to less popular license managers, such as HASP, Smartplant, or Beta_LM, License Statistics has got their needs covered. By offering an out of the box experience for centralized license management, monitoring, and reporting, License Statistics helps companies purchase only the software they really need and get the most of out of the software that’s already been purchased.
“License Statistics provides all the functionality we need at a considerable savings over all its competitors. We use many different license products from a wide variety of vendors and it would have cost substantially more to track all these licenses with any other software. License Statistics has worked well for our needs and X-Formation support has been superb.” – Brian Griffin, Mechanical CAD Support Manager, NASA / MSFC
