Licensing Model 2025

License Statistics - Licensing Model 2025

With our latest major release of License Statistics, v7.0, we’ve introduced a new licensing model that brings you flexibility, simplicity, and peace of mind: Licensing Model 2025.

This new licensing model offers significant benefits over our previous licensing models, with simplified licensing rules that give you free historical reports and an unlimited number of monitored license servers, daemons, and hosts. Licensing Model 2025 even allows for continued monitoring when the license limit is exceeded, so you never have to worry about losing your usage data.

Read on for details about all that Licensing Model 2025 has to offer you.

Subscription-based licensing

Licensing Model 2025 offers subscription-based licensing with a fixed expiration and maintenance of one year. Your License Statistics subscription includes:

  • Quick, professional support via phone or email (24-hour maximum response time)
  • Uninterrupted access to new releases of License Statistics (we’re constantly improving License Statistics based directly on feedback from customers like you, so you won’t want to miss out on our upcoming releases!)
  • Participation in customer-driven development
  • Access to your existing license files using License Activation Center
  • One free re-host per year if your License Statistics installation needs to be moved to a different machine

When your subscription expires, we allow up to 14 days for you to renew your subscription, with no restrictions on usage.

Pay only for what you use

Licensing Model 2025 makes it easy to estimate and calculate your needs, because it counts only usernames, rather than counting users, hosts and servers as previous licensing models did. Only unique usernames monitored in the last 30 days are counted (including Imported Users, Realtime Users, and Denials), so you pay only for what you use.

With this new, straightforward approach, you’re able to track unlimited license servers and hosts, and historical users are not counted towards the license limit. Historical usage is permanently saved in the database, ensuring you can continue accessing historical reports. If you find that you don’t need the historical data, you can remove data older than 30 days.

Get protection from overusage

No need to fret about those occasional minor surges in usage. Licensing Model 2025 protects you against usage monitoring interruptions and data loss with Grace Period and Light Restricted Access Mode, which let you keep using License Statistics after exceeding your usage limit by up to 125%–without being charged extra for additional users monitored.

Grace Period

A Grace Period places no restrictions on your use of License Statistics. You can continue monitoring realtime and imported usage as usual, as well as continue using the License Statistics UI and API.

The Grace Period will be automatically initiated upon exceeding your licensed limit by no more than 125% and will remain in effect for 14 days or until usage no longer exceeds the limit. After the Grace Period ends, another Grace Period will not be available for 180 days from the time that the limit was last exceeded.

You’ll receive alerts to inform you that your license usage limit was exceeded and a Grace Period has been initiated, including:

  • An alert that informs you of the last date that the number of allowed users was exceeded
  • An alert in a red panel at the top of the Licensing page
  • Emails that inform you when a Grace Period has begun/ended

Light Restricted Access Mode

If usage continues to exceed the limit for more than 14 days after the Grace Period begins, your usage monitoring still won’t be interrupted. In this case, Light Restricted Access Mode will automatically be initiated. Light Restricted Access Mode allows remote and end user monitoring to continue, but access to reports in the License Statistics UI and API, importing, and harvesting will be disabled.

Light Restricted Access Mode has no time limit, and will remain in effect as long as the user limit is exceeded by no more than 125%. Note that if usage exceeds 125% of your user licenses purchased at any time, the more restrictive Restricted Access Mode (the only overusage protection provided with previous licensing models) will be initiated.

When Light Restricted Access Mode is initiated, you’ll receive alerts, including:

  • An alert that informs you of the last date that the number of allowed users was exceeded
  • Notifications on report grids/charts
  • An alert in a red panel at the top of the Licensing page
  • Pop-up notifications when attempting to access blocked features/data
  • Emails that inform you when Light Restricted Access Mode has been enabled/disabled

Discontinuing Grace Period/Light Restricted Access Mode

In order to run License Statistics without continuing to use Grace Period or Light Restricted Access Mode, you must:

  • Load a license with a higher user limit
  • Wait for the user count to drop; for example, due to a decreased number of active users or disabled license server(s)

Choose the license plan that fits your needs

With Licensing Model 2025, you have the option of purchasing a Standard Plan or Pro Plan (commercial) license. The differences in the plans are shown in the following table.

Licensing Model 2025 - Standard Plan and Pro Plan

Perpetual licenses

All licenses are sold on a subscription basis; however, perpetual licenses may be available in special cases for Pro Plan licenses only.

License Harvesting

Pro Plan licenses include License Harvesting Agents with a limit equal to the maximum number of concurrent online agents that can have license harvesting enabled simultaneously. The limit applies to the features that the agent delivers, not the agents themselves. For example, you may have an unlimited number of agents for Autodesk monitoring, but the number of those agents that have License Harvesting enabled is limited. A single agent can run multiple limited and unlimited features.

Not quite ready for Licensing Model 2025? No rush. Although Licensing Models 2013 and 2019 are deprecated as of License Statistics v7.0, we’ll continue support for older licensing models for existing customers for a limited time. All licenses will continue to work, and you’ll still be able to extend the maintenance on your original licensing rules. However, you will need to upgrade to License Statistics v7.x and Licensing Model 2025 in order to change existing license terms (for example, increasing your number of users/license servers, or changing your license type).
