License Statistics v7.0 introduces a redesigned dashboard creation and management and a new licensing model

License Statistics v7.0 - New features and enhancements

With License Statistics version 7.0, we’ve introduced significant new features and enhancements designed to improve your overall user experience. With redesigned, extended dashboard capabilities and simplified, more flexible licensing policies, you’re sure to appreciate this new version of License Statistics! Read on for details about what’s new in this release.

Multiple, manageable dashboards

While previous releases of License Statistics offered a single dashboard on which to pin reports, License Statistics v7.0 now gives you the ability to create and individually manage multiple dashboards, enabling your team to create Individual, permanent dashboard collections per user, independent of device and browser performance improvements.

With this release’s completely redesigned dashboard capabilities:

  • Each License Statistics user can define an unlimited number of dashboards
  • Pre-defined templates help you create new dashboards quickly and easily
  • Choose to keep individual dashboards viewable only by you, or make them available for other License Statistics users to see
  • Share dashboards throughout your organization, even with those who don’t use License Statistics, by providing individuals with an automatically generated link to a read-only version of an individual dashboard
  • Add new widgets (pinnable charts, reports, etc.) directly from the dashboard by choosing the widget from a complete selection list of available widgets
  • Customize your widgets to include the settings and details you want to see
  • Pin reports to a selected dashboard
  • Control widget appearance, such as name, color, and size
  • Persistent dashboard state, independent from the device being used
  • Customizable dashboard menu

If you are upgrading from an older version of License Statistics, your existing dashboard will be automatically migrated when you install License Statistics v7.0, so you won’t lose that dashboard you’ve grown accustomed to.

New Licensing Model

We’re happy to introduce a new licensing model, Licensing Model 2025, that exceeds the flexibility and simplicity of our previous licensing models. Licensing Model 2025 offers significant benefits over previous licensing models, including:

  • Flat subscription licensing
  • Pay for what you use
  • Simplified licensing based on one user limit factor: unique usernames monitored in the last 30 days
  • Free historical reports
  • Unlimited number of monitored license servers, daemons, and hosts
  • Easy, temporary, or permanent license extensions
  • Standard and Pro plans to fit your needs better
  • Individual migration program
  • No more data loss: new Grace Period and Light Restricted Access Mode states allow for continued monitoring when the license limit is exceeded

For existing customers, please note that:

  • Licensing Models 2013 and 2019 are deprecated, but remain supported as described in License Transition
  • You must upgrade to License Statistics v7.0 or newer to use Licensing Model 2025
  • Contact X-Formation Sales for a special offer when transitioning to Licensing Model 2025, based on your usage and needs

Other new features and enhancements

In addition to the major new features described above, this release also includes:

Expanded support

  • Support for new platforms:
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10
    • Rocky Linux 10
    • Debian 13
  • Ability to import Sparx System log files

New License Statistics update support policy

Our new official License Statistics update support policy will provide support for and maintain the ability to update older versions of License Statistics for at least 2 years (eight minor versions prior to the current version).

The update support policy provides for:

  • Installer downloads. Installers are available to download for at least 2 years from their release date (eight minor versions prior to the current version). In some cases, such as when needed to maintain the update chain, older installers are available as well.
  • Direct updates to License Statistics using the installer
  • Automatic updates using Windows, RPM and DEB installers
  • Migration of the old database. Database migrations are maintained for at least 2 years, and new ones are added for another 2 years. The oldest are cleaned.
  • Direct updates to MySQL

License Statistics Agent versioning policy updates

As of this release, the License Statistics Agent version is now independent of the License Statistics server version, starting from License Statistics Agent v25.0.0. As part of this enhancement:

  • A major version will be introduced every year
  • Minor versions will contain new functionalities and possible breaking changes
  • Micro versions will contain bugfixes and minor improvements
  • A new policy of backward compatibility was introduced
  • License Statistics v7.0 will support the following Agents:
    • v6.18.0+
    • v25.0.0+

Extended reservation parameters

This release adds support for using Host and IP parameters for Dassault Systèmes License Server (DSLS) license reservations. IP ranges and groups of IP ranges are merged and presented as a reservation of type IP, with the pattern being the name of the reservation reported by DSLS.

Disabled support for Autodesk cloud monitoring

Because License Statistics can no longer collect Autodesk cloud-based license information reliably and securely, we must disable support for Autodesk cloud monitoring. The following Autodesk-related data will no longer be available in License Statistics reports:

  • Number of available Autodesk licenses from the cloud portal
  • Information about users assigned to licenses through Autodesk’s web interface
  • License details fetched directly from the Autodesk cloud

This change affects only cloud-based monitoring of Autodesk licenses. You can still use License Statistics Agent to continue to collect detailed usage information about Autodesk software running locally on your Autodesk workstations.

In a future release, we plan to reintroduce most of this functionality by using data importing.

For a complete list of enhancements and fixes, see License Statistics v7.0 Release Notes.

With License Statistics v7.0, we hope to improve your overall experience with using License Statistics. As always, we appreciate your feedback, so please let us know what you think of the License Statistics v7.0 new features and enhancements, and don’t hesitate to contact support@x-formation.com with any questions. We look forward to hearing from you!
