LM-X v6.0 introduces new LM-X License Server UI

LM-X v6.0 introduces new LM-X License Server UI

The major new features and enhancements in LM-X v6.0 are described below. You can find a complete list of improvements and fixes included in this release in the LM-X License Manager v6.0 Release Notes.

New LM-X License Server UI

LM-X License Manager v6.0 introduces the LM-X License Server UI, a new web-based application for monitoring and managing your LM-X license server. The LM-X License Server UI can be accessed from any browser with a connection to the license server’s network, allowing you to readily:

  • Restart or shut down the license server
  • View the LM-X license server’s HostIDs (unique machine values that can be used to lock a license file to a host), such as Ethernet, Hostname, IP Address, etc.
  • View license usage statistics for the LM-X license server
  • View and download the log file
  • View and edit the license server configuration settings

The LM-X License Server UI replaces the LM-X License Server Client application used in previous versions of LM-X License Manager.

New YAML configuration file

This release replaces the LM-X server configuration file with a new YAML-formatted configuration file.

As of v6.0, legacy configuration files from LM-X versions prior to v6.0 will no longer work. If you have an existing configuration file, it will be migrated to the new YAML format when you install LM-X version v6.0 or newer.

The old configuration file does not include settings for the web server used to run the new LM-X License Server UI. To enable the web server and access the LM-X License Server UI, you must manually add the web server and port to the newly migrated configuration file, as detailed in LM-X license server configuration.

As of this release, your configuration must use proper YAML formatting, including indentation and case sensitivity for keys. Incorrect syntax may lead to configuration errors or server misbehavior. To avoid errors, using the LM-X License Server UI is recommended.

Introduced SBOM (Software Bill of Materials) policy

This release added X-Formation’s Software Bill of Materials (SBOM) policy file to the LM-X SDK.

The SBOM policy lists all LM-X libraries and their dependencies for all software components, including license type and version. This information helps you to determine any library vulnerabilities.

We hope that the improvements in this release will help you to more easily manage your LM-X license server. As always, we appreciate your feedback, so please let us know what you think of these new features and enhancements, and don’t hesitate to contact support@x-formation.com with any questions. We look forward to hearing from you!
