As the year draws to a close and we’re filled with the spirit of giving, we want to thank you, our customers, for generously sharing invaluable insights that help us deliver license management solutions that satisfy your unique business needs. Your feedback has driven our advancements throughout the past year, with your organization’s profitability and success at the heart of our mission. Much like the joy of giving, serving you is the greatest reward for our entire team.
In this article, we invite you to reflect with us on the major accomplishments we made during 2025 for both License Statistics and LM-X License Manager.
License Statistics
Over the past year, our License Statistics team has been working hard to bring you improvements that will truly make a difference in your everyday tasks and your bottom line. From a new subscription-based licensing model, to expanded dashboard functionality, to new license manager support, and so much more, we’ve delivered an impressive package of major new features and enhancements that are sure to please.
Worry-free, flexible licensing
Our new Licensing Model 2025 provides many advantages over our previous licensing models, including:
- Subscription-based licensing with a fixed expiration and maintenance of one year
- Simplified licensing rules that allow for monitoring unlimited license servers, daemons, and hosts
- Free historical reports that don’t count toward usage limits
- Protection against usage monitoring interruptions and data loss with newly introduced Grace Period and Light Restricted Access Mode, which let you keep using License Statistics after exceeding your usage limit by up to 125%–without being charged extra for additional users monitored
With Licensing Model 2025, you have two licensing plan options to choose from: Standard Plan or Pro Plan (commercial). To learn more, check out our recent blog article, Upgrading to Licensing Model 2025, or find complete details in License Statistics documentation.
New insights into your license usage
With our completely revamped dashboards, you’ll experience a new level of clarity, collaboration and communication across your entire organization.
While past releases of License Statistics offered a single dashboard on which to pin reports, each License Statistics user can now define and manage their own unlimited collection of customizable, shareable dashboards. With multiple dashboards, you can much more readily visualize and monitor key performance indicators, helping you to quickly spot trends in usage and make better-informed decisions about your license management.
You can find out more about the benefits of License Statistics’ new dashboards in our recent blog article, and find all the details you need to add, remove, share, and organize your dashboards by investigating the License Statistics documentation.
Autodesk metadata importing
License Statistics now has the ability to import metadata from Autodesk servers, including details about current reservations and features and the number of licenses. With this new support, we’re able to restore some Autodesk cloud monitoring capabilities, which were discontinued when Autodesk made access to its cloud data more restrictive (see Autodesk usage monitoring for information on Autodesk cloud monitoring limitations).
Metadata import is also available for EPLAN LM license managers as an improved method for uploading EPLAN bundles.
Redesigned removal of license servers and features
A complete redesign of the removal of license servers and features bring you the following benefits:
- The license server removal process now occurs asynchronously in the background, and will continue to run even if the connection is disrupted (for example, if License Statistics is stopped or the host is restarted).
- The license server removal is indicated by a “Deleting” status in the General Information area of the License Server page.
- During removal of the license server, its features will also be shown with a “Deleting” status in the General Information area of applicable reports.
Ability to specify encoding
You now have the option of specifying the encoding to use when analyzing data from a license server. If encoding is left unspecified, License Statistics will determine the encoding to use (usually UTF-8). The encoding option can be set in the remote monitoring tab when adding or editing a license server, or when importing license server data.
Self-signed certificates
Advanced configuration settings, now available as part of License Statistics Agent configuration, let you perform SSL certificate verification using a Microsoft Windows built-in truststore (System) or a custom truststore.
New license manager support
We now support 37 different license managers, with newly added support for:
- ViewStation license manager
- ELC license manager
- Petex Hardlock license manager import logs (available only with Licensing Model 2025)
- CimLM license manager import logs
Support for additional platforms
We’ve added support for new platforms, including:
- Windows Server 2025
- Rocky Linux
- SUSE Linux Enterprise Server
Updated MySQL support
We now support MySQL v8.4, ensuring that License Statistics is keeping up with the latest vendor updates to MySQL.
SBOM (Software Bill of Materials) policy
X-Formation now provides a Software Bill of Materials (SBOM) policy. The SBOM policy lists all License Statistics libraries and their dependencies for all software components, including license type and version. This information helps you to determine any library vulnerabilities.
LM-X License Manager
Our LM-X License Manager team has focused their efforts this past year on helping you to more easily manage your LM-X license server, with a new License Server web-based UI and YAML-formatted configuration file.
New LM-X License Server UI
LM-X License Manager has implemented a new web-based LM-X License Server UI for monitoring and managing your LM-X license server. The LM-X License Server UI replaces the LM-X License Server Client application used in previous versions of LM-X License Manager.
The LM-X License Server UI can be accessed from any browser with a connection to the license server’s network, allowing you to readily:
- View and edit the license server configuration settings
- View license usage statistics for the LM-X license server
- Restart or shut down the license server
- View the LM-X license server’s HostIDs (unique machine values that can be used to lock a license file to a host), such as Ethernet, Hostname, IP Address, etc.
- View and download the log file
New YAML configuration file
The LM-X server configuration file has been replaced with a new YAML-formatted configuration file. By default, a new YAML configuration file will be created automatically after installing and running v6.0 or newer.
As of v6.0, legacy configuration files from LM-X versions prior to v6.0 will no longer work. If you use an existing configuration file from an older version when you start up the license server in v6.0 or newer, the file will be migrated to the new YAML format.
The old configuration file does not include settings for the web server used to run the new LM-X License Server UI. To enable the web server and access the LM-X License Server UI, you must manually add the web server and port to the newly migrated configuration file, as detailed in LM-X license server configuration.
Bringing in the new year together
We are incredibly excited to continue serving you, our valued customers, in the coming new year. Your partnership is what inspires us to constantly innovate and refine our license management solutions. Here’s to another year of collaboration, helping your organization achieve greater efficiency and profitability with the License Statistics and LM-X License Manager advancements we have in store for 2026.
From the entire X-Formation team, we wish you a safe and joyous holiday, and a Happy New Year!
